How does the appraisal work?
Bring the vehicle in and the team evaluates it on-site while you look at its replacement: condition inside and out, mileage, mechanical state, and what comparable vehicles are actually selling for in this market right now. You get the number the same visit, with the reasoning behind it. No mailing in photos and waiting on a stranger's estimate.
What should I bring?
The vehicle, every key and remote, the title (or your loan payoff information if it is financed), your registration, and service records if you kept them. Records matter: a documented maintenance history removes the unknowns an appraiser otherwise has to price in.
Why appraise at a franchise dealer?
A franchise dealer has more ways to use your vehicle than a cash-for-cars lot: retail it on the used line, or move it wholesale. More options for the buyer generally means a fairer conversation for the seller, and a 37-year family store at one address has to stand behind how it treated you, because your neighbors know exactly where to find them.
One Pennsylvania note worth knowing
When you trade in and buy in the same transaction in Pennsylvania, the trade-in value reduces the taxable price of the vehicle you are buying. That tax offset is real money a private-party sale does not give you; ask the desk to walk you through the math for your situation.
